Everyday on social media I try to express what God is doing in the ‘LIFE OF ARCHIE’ and to encourage others on the journey of faith. Today I got up went to my lounge room, sat and prayed “God what should I talk about today?” In a loud voice I heard Him say “Tell them about our agreement”
On the 29th October 1989 I made the most important decision, not just for my recovery but for my life. I decided to follow Jesus. The Corps Officer on my ‘ARTICLES OF WAR’ (not faith) was Captain Drew Ruthven, the witness was Envoy Cameron Wallace and it was at the Mount Barker Salvation Army in South Australia. And I hear people saying “Why is he telling us this?” The reason is:
On the day I became a soldier of God in the Mount Barker, Salvation Army it was a life-time commitment. No matter what Church I attend, who I work for or what I do from that day to this day everything I agreed to in these ‘Articles of War’ and the way I agreed to live have been an agreement between me and my Savior. How does this fit in with recovery? you ask. Well let me tell you.
We have all sinned and fall short of God’s glory, we have all made mistakes, we have all been selfish and we have all put ourselves or other things before God. We all have problems in our lives.
Jesus tells us in John 16:33 .“In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” We all need recovery.
The Twelve Steps are a great tool that map out a process for ‘LIFE TRANSFORMATION’ and we all need to learn the recovery route and stick to the map.
What was the agreement God asked me to tell you about? In April 1989 on The Salvation Army Bridge Program, praying alone at the side of my bed I prayed “God show me the way forward.’ and He responded “You don’t need to live like this anymore follow Me and i will lead you.”
My part of the agreement is to do whatever I need to do to put His plan and His purpose first in my life and to be ‘His Man’ always.
