STEP SEVEN: We humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.
Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. Matthew 6:11-13
During Corona Virus lockdown number five in Melbourne, Australia. People outside of Victoria respondef “we are thinking of you all” ‘praying for you” “glad I am not in Victoria” Overnight unable to sleep my thoughts turned to God and the verse in Acts 27:25 that says “Cheer up! I am sure that God will do exactly what he promised.”
I believe in our lives God creates opportunities from the things that happen in them. Lockdown disrupted our everyday routines – but created time for us to develop new ones. Lockdown destroyed the norm but created opportunities for the new. Lockdown distracted us from what we knew but encouraged us to explore the unknown, about ourselves, about God, and about our lives. Lockdown also created in my opinion new opportunities for us to develop personal disciplines we might not have discovered otherwise.
In this second week of Step Seven I want to turn to the Life Recovery Journal – Becoming a new you – One Step at a Time! by Stephen Arterburn and David Stoop. In season 2 of Step Seven For Reflection, it says “When Jesus taught His followers how to pray for their needs He told them to depend on God each day for food, forgiveness, and freedom.”
- – In what ways are you depending on God every day?
- – How often and in what ways are you acknowledging your dependence on Him.
- 1 Corinthians 10:12 says Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.
2 Peter 1:5 says For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge.
DO YOU SEE LOCKDOWN AS A DISTRUPTION, DISTRACTION, DISTRUCTION OR DO YOU SEE IT AS A TIME TO LET GOD REMOVE YOUR DETFECTS OF CHARACTER AND LIVE THE LIFE
HE HAS CALLRD YOU TO?
It is easy when things don’t go according to our expectations to forget the One who is in control………
