2022 | Day Sixty-Four | Thought for Today

Taking time to rest through the process of recovery is important. To get to know ourselves, to Get to know God, and to understand what it was that kept us from moving forward in life.

A lot of my time (the first two years) in recovery I spent writing and taking notes on things I learned through the process of recovery. I had to because much of my short-term memory was shot. If I didn’t write things down and when alone read them I don’t believe I would be where I am today. Journaling is an important part of recovery. It gives us a fresh look into ourselves, our attitudes, actions, and behaviors. Reading back on what you have journaled also gives you perspective on your spiritual growth.

MEDITATION
Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding! Wisdom energizes the owner. The things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my One True Higher Power. Everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ, and be embraced by Him. don’t you think His concern extends to us? God wants the combination of His steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever He will do next.

PRAYER
Just for today Lord, help me to wrote oy the things that are holding me back from becoming all that You are calling me to be. Help me to read it back to You, to study what You reveal to me from it in Your Word, and to be ready for what You are going to do next.
