1 Peter 1:2 God the Father has his eye on each of you and has determined by the work of the Spirit to keep you obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. May everything good from God be yours!
None of us ended up in recovery by mistake, we are here because God planned it.
Weak and helpless knowing we could do nothing to save ourselves. He came to rescue us. Exactly at the right time —according to God’s plan. God controlled the timing, method, and events surrounding our recovery.
God’s goal for us is to make us like Jesus. As we become more and more like Him, we discover our true selves, the people He created to be. How? By reading and obeying God’s Word, Studying Jesus life on earth through the Gospels. And spending time in prayer.

Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. Romans 5:6
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. Romans 8:29
Chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Colossians 3:12
