1 Corinthians 6:12  Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate.
If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims.

I started drinking at the age of fifteen. I became legally old enough to drink at eighteen. When I turned eighteen people said, “He’s old enough let him drink.”

Because of my addictive personality, mood-altering drugs were not good for me, at any age. Yet once I was legal the world was happy for me to live my life as a drunk.

  • At what age did your addiction first appear in your life?

  • How do those close to you respond to you being in recovery?

Prayer: Just for today Lord help me to accept abstinence is my only safe path to recovery.

Legalism is faith gone wrong. It puts the emphasis on doing what you are allowed to do instead of following God. Seeking recovery by doing what you are supposed to do instead of what God guides you to do leads you in circles.

writing a book doesn’t make you an expert any more than reading one does.

Matthew 23:4  “Instead of giving you God’s Law as food and drink by which you can banquet on God, they package it in bundles of rules, loading you down like pack animals. They seem to take pleasure in watching you stagger under these loads, and wouldn’t think of lifting a finger to help.”

receiving god’s promises requires more than knowing what to do don’t get bogged down with reading literature on recovery. Learn the basics and put them into practice

Deuteronomy 6:18  Do what is right; do what is good in God’s sight so you’ll live a good life and be able to march in and take this pleasant land that God so solemnly promised through your ancestors,
