Thought For Today

Take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:11-18

God has a plan for each of us, and for us as a group. He knows the plan, directs the plan through our life occurrences. And, He is with us every step of His plan. We need to learn a we grow in faith to apply what we have learned of His plan and through the recovery process to every area of our lives. God is a God if involvement, and He wants to be involved in every area of our lives (not just the parts we give Him access to because we feel we need His help in them) He will help us get through whatever life throws at us if we are willing to put our faith in Him and trust Him.

God wants us to be prepared for whatever life is going to throw at us and He wants us to seek help and guidance from others, more mature in faith than we are We need to learn how to apply His truth, His peace and His Salvation to daily living and we need to pray, often, hard and long for His guidance and involvement.

Step 12 says ‘Having gone through these steps and discovering the importance of an individual relationship with God through Jesus, I will try to live according to His principles and to lead others to a personal relationship with Him.’ We are called by God, through the process of recovery to encourage others as we walk the ‘Road to Recovery’ together. And, to make sure we do what it is in our power to do to make sure that no one is left behind.
