Relationships are an important part of the recovery process. People will judge us based on how we act towards and treat others. What we need to do is to learn to judge how we react to others by God’s standard of fairness. Recovery is about learning to be fair.
Most of us have learned from our past experiences how to justify bad attitudes and behavior towards others. But now we are in recovery there are no excuses for bad attitudes and behavior. We now know better and need to live accordingly. Recovery requires rigorous honesty and no amount of rationalizing can cover up bad attitudes and behaviors.
Honesty and fairness are not always easy, but they are what God expects from us.
We should not look out for our own interests. Instead, we should look out for the interests of others.
