Luke 14:33 “Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people and kiss it good-bye, you can’t be my disciple.”
Luke 14:26-33 Speaks about the need to count the cost of recovery. If recovery is our goal we need God’s help to achieve it. Failure to put Jesus Christ in His rightful place in our lives and the inability to let go of the things that are dearest to us make us vulnerable in the recovery process. We cannot expect our lives to change if we are unwilling to be obedient to His leading in every area of our lives on a daily basis.
You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it’s your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. Romans 6:16
